You blind guides, filtering out a gnat and gulping down a camel! Matthew 23:24 (AMP)

While congress squabbles over nickels and dimes the federal government hemorrhages billions of dollars a day. While we are forced to endure yet another debt-ceiling proposal the majority of the federal government continues to operate on auto-pilot. Federal programs continue to implement new regulations in the order of thousands a year. Thousands of pages of new federal guidelines continue to spew out of the multitude of bureaus and departments in the bowels of the federal government. As we are reduced to swatting at gnats by arguing over nickels and dimes in discretionary spending the federal entitlement programs continue to balloon out of control.

With deficits running over a trillion dollars, the latest budget cut proposals are ridiculous. Congress boasts about killing gnats while the American people are forced to swallow one federal camel after another.

Why should the American people continue to pony up for reckless federal spending? We have no say in how this money is spent, who is hired or fired, whether anyone should get a raise or not, which projects should or should not be funded but every year the federal government gets bigger and spends more money then the year before and “we the people” have to dig deeper to pay for it all. When we do say “no” we are called extremists or racists or other derogatory terms.

I for one have lost all patience and tolerance for politicians who continue to tell me that there is nowhere in the federal government they can cut. They have no problem cutting my pay by taking more of my hard-earned money through taxation or regulation. We the people have to keep doing without so that the federal government can continue to run full-speed ahead with all systems go. Does that make sense to anyone?

The American economy is being squeezed to death and the golden goose is being smothered by this huge leviathan of a federal government, and yet one politician after another spouts off that a measly 1-2% decrease in Federal spending is draconian. Give me a break! Until 20% of the federal work force is laid off and collecting unemployment like the rest of America there is plenty that can be cut from the fed’s coffers.

Start with a 20% reduction in all departments across the board. Eliminate the EPA, HHS, HLS, all the unconfirmed Tsars, and make public sector unions illegal. After you have done all that then come back to me and tell me there is nothing left to cut and I am sure by then I will come up with even more ideas and places you can cut before you ask me for one thin dime more. I have had enough of this spend-thrift congress!

At a time like this we need men of character and courage not men of cowardice and compromise. We need men like Milton Friedman , Adam Smith, William Bennett, Barry Goldwater and yes I am going to say it Ronald Reagan . As I close this rant let me leave you with the words of President Reagan:

“We don’t have a trillion-dollar debt because we haven’t taxed enough; we have a trillion-dollar debt because we spend too much.”

“To sit back hoping that someday, someway, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last – but eat you he will.”

“Government is not a solution to our problem government is the problem.”

“Government is like a baby: an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.”

“No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”

Thank you Mr. Reagan, to which I add Amen.

Political correctness is the liberal buzz word of the day. It would appear we must be sensitive to every special interest group or ideology, no matter how that group or ideology might negatively impact our lives or violate ethical or moral laws; more importantly God‘s laws. When God created the earth, he did not care what people thought of his policies. His policy was THE way!

God laid down rules in the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve to follow. As long as they followed these rules, they would reign over every living creature. These laws were representing the Creator in all aspects. God‘s government was being expressed through his Nature and Nature’s Laws. He was and is the ultimate righteous ruler.

In the founding of this great nation, our founding fathers recognized this divine rule of God when they penned these words:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them,…

In addition these words have formed the foundation of our form of Government and recognized the importance of God-given rights to all individuals, the Declaration of Independence states

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men…

Our founders recognized God’s granted authority, and held to the position that it was God who granted freedom to all people and that government should defend those rights granted to the people by God, not pass laws that limit the freedom of the people. The Declaration of Independence then lists all the usurpations of the King over the free citizens of the not yet formed United States. It is this foundation that birthed the United States of America and later led to the writing of the Constitution. Until recently the Constitution was defended and upheld as the final authority and the supreme law of the land.

Obeying God’s laws blesses a nation since the intent of God’s laws was not to control people but, by their obedience to his laws his people would find personal freedom. The intent of our founding fathers was to defend God-given individual rights and freedoms and establish for us a government to secure these rights. This was a noble cause and one worth fighting to maintain. Our nation fought the tyrannical rule of King George to throw off his freedom-robbing laws and regulations, and restore the freedoms granted to the colonists by God himself. It was their insistence that God rules in the affairs of man who led them to make such a bold statement.

This is no small matter. This is not something that should be ignored. But in today’s climate of political correctness the foundations that made this country great are being undermined. The “progressive” ideology behind this political correct movement seeks to deem any reference to God unacceptable, and their ultimate aim is to remove any Christian influence from our institutions of government even though this very government was founded in recognition of God’s laws and His providence. Once again I refer to the founding document of these great United States of America:

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

A firm reliance upon the protection of Divine Providence. What a statement of faith in a Divine overseer keeping watch over the affairs of our state. Contrast that with the progressive’s agenda to remove any reliance upon God or the very mention of His name in the affairs of state. When a nation or a people seek to remove God’s influence (his laws) from their lives they forfeit the benefits afforded by those same laws. In Deuteronomy 28:13,14 we read:

“The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.”

This promise of being a leader among men will be withdrawn in the same proportion that God and his laws are removed from a nation or a people. It is because of our respect for God-given natural laws that America rose to world dominance. The removal of the same will lead to the downfall of America and our influence in the world. The further one gets from the foundations of God’s unchanging laws the lower their standard in life becomes. If you find yourself always brining up the rear perhaps you need to take a look at the principles that guide your life.

This is serious folks. What makes America exceptional is the acceptance of Divine authority and acknowledging that there is a Divine ruler who oversees all the affairs of man. Failure to recognize this truth will lead this nation into decline.

“I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:24

God’s desire in the garden was to extend his influence across the earth through Godly leaders who would represent and legislate his Kingdom in all spheres of life. God’s laws are good and right all the time, therefore when we follow those laws we will live right and do right, which in the end produces a harvest of righteousness. It is by God’s divine guidance, and adherence to His divine authority, and recognizing His divine nature that blesses America and has caused his grace to shine on thee.

Amos 8:11-12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

As the United States celebrates the 4th of July today – Independence day – we’re often reminded of the price that was paid for our freedom. The founders pledged to each other their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor in defense of the Declaration of Independence. In that same spirit let us recall a time when a heavy price was paid for a translation of our Bible.

William Tyndale, a 16th century Englishman, translated the Bible into English while living in Germany. Finally in 1525, he was able to publish a New Testament in English. But the church authorities at the time were not pleased and they angrily sought to destroy Tyndale and his translation. Finally, he was caught and brought back to England where he was burned at the stake.

As he was dying, he uttered these words: “Lord open the eyes of the King of England.” His prayer became a prophecy, as it was the King of England, King James, who finally did publish the entire Bible in English about a hundred years later.

Our English Bible translations became a reality through William Tyndale’s heroic sacrifice and bravery, ultimately at the price of his lifeblood. The work and sacrifice of William Tyndale not only led to the publishing of the King James Bible but to earlier English translations like the Geneva bible which the pilgrims brought with them to America.

This Independence day, don’t let your Bible sit on the shelf gathering dust. Considering the cost that was paid so you could read it in your native tongue, let’s all take full advantage of this precious gift.

The freedom that we so enjoy on this day is only a taste of the real freedom we have in the Lord; the promise of eternal forgiveness and freedom from sin. The cost of that freedom was the precious blood of our savior Jesus Christ. William Tyndale offered his life so we could read about this spiritual freedom in our own language. Our founders fought and gave their lives for the freedoms we now enjoy as a nation so as we celebrate our earthly freedom this Independence Day, let’s not forget to also give thanks for our eternal liberty that we find in our Lord.

Not even close to espousing the same principles of Ronald Wilson Reagan. The circumstances are very similar, the location is exactly the same, we are battling the same battles now as then. The lesson of Thanksgiving: private property is best.

If individuals can take from a common pot regardless of how much they put in, each person has an incentive to be a free-rider, to do as little as possible because what one fails to take will be taken by someone else. Soon, the pot is empty.What private property does – as the Pilgrims discovered –is connect effort to reward, creating an incentive for people to produce far more. Then, if there’s a free market, people will trade their surpluses to others for the things they lack. Mutual exchange for mutual benefit makes the community richer. They have been much maligned by the mainstream press. They are hated and vilified by ‘liberal’ activists and politicians. They are considered illegitimate by some but their presence can be seen and their influence felt none-the-less. To conservatives and people of faith however, the tea-party movement represents nothing less than a mighty move of God upon the hearts of his people.

–”We wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes….For our transgressions are multiplied before Thee, and our sins testify against us….In transgressing and lying against the Lord and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. And judgment is turned away backward and justice standeth afar off: for Truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter. Yea. Truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil is accounted mad” (Isaiah 59:9-15, see margin of v. 15). Nevertheless when Satan has brought in a flood of lying errors and lawlessness has become ascendant, the Spirit of God intervenes and thwarts Satan’s vile purpose.

The solemn verses quoted above accurately describe the awful conditions in Israel under the reign of Ahab and his heathen consort Jezebel. Because of their multiplied transgressions, God had given up the people to blindness and darkness and a spirit of falsehood and madness possessed their hearts. In consequence, Truth was fallen in the street-ruthlessly trampled underfoot by the masses. Idolatry had become the State religion: the worship of Baal was the order of the day: wickedness was rampant on every side. The Enemy had indeed come in like a flood, and it looked as though there was no barrier left which could stem its devastating effects. Then it was that the Spirit of the Lord lifted up a standard against him, making public demonstration that the God of Israel was highly displeased with the sins of the people, and would now visit their iniquities upon them. That heavenly standard was raised aloft by the hand of Elijah.

God has never left Himself without witnesses on earth. In the very darkest seasons of human history the Lord has raised up and maintained a testimony for Himself. Neither persecution nor corruption could entirely destroy it. In the days of the antediluvians, when the earth was filled with violence and all flesh had corrupted His way, Jehovah had an Enoch and a Noah to act as His mouthpieces. When the Hebrews were reduced to abject slavery in Egypt, the Most High sent forth Moses and Aaron as His ambassadors, and at every subsequent period in their history one Prophet after another was sent to them.

So also has it been throughout the whole course of Christendom: in the days of Nero, in the time of Charlemagne, and even in the dark ages-despite the incessant opposition of the Papacy-the Lamp of Truth was never extinguished. And so it is today the Tea-party has arisen as a standard against this evil tide that has come upon us. Be sure to stand with the tea-party and help reclaim America. Vote for God and country Tuesday Nov 2nd 2010.

Psalm 37:3 “ Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.”

Times are tough in America. Unemployment teeters around 10%, those receiving government assistance is at an all-time high, more Americans are finding themselves homeless than at any other time in American history, the dollar continues to decline in value, the national debt has climbed past 13 trillion dollars with no end in sight. What are we to do?

In The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, completed in 1787, Edward Gibbon (English historian and Member of Parliament) lists the following reasons for that fall:

• The rapid increase of divorce; the undermining of dignity and sanctity of the home, which is the basis of human society.
• Higher and higher taxes and the spending of public money for free bread and circuses for the populace.
• The mad craze for pleasure; sports becoming every year more exciting and more brutal.
• The building of gigantic armaments when the real enemy was within: the decadence of the people.
• The decay of religion—faith fading into mere form—losing touch with life and becoming impotent to guide the people.

Sound familiar? Are we headed for the same destiny? Is there any hope for America?

Well I can tell you were you will not find any hope or help… the federal government. Thomas Sowell once said “there is nothing so bad (in America) that politics cannot make worse.” To which I have to nod my head in agreement. He was not the only one who took humorous potshots at the government. Listen to what Will Rogers said about the government of his day. He died on August 15, 1935.

• - A fool and his money are soon elected.
• - About all I can say for the United States Senate is that it opens with a prayer and closes with an investigation.
• - Anything important is never left to the vote of the people. We only get to vote on some man; we never get to vote on what he is to do.
• - Be thankful we’re not getting all the government we’re paying for.
• - I don’t make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
• - If I studied all my life, I couldn’t think up half the number of funny things passed in one session of congress.
• - It’s easy being a humorist when you’ve got the whole government working for you.
• - Last year we said, ’Things can’t go on like this’, and they didn’t, they got worse.
• - On account of being a democracy and run by the people, we are the only nation in the world that has to keep a government four years, no matter what it does.
• - Our constitution protects aliens, drunks and U.S. Senators.
• - The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets.

Ernest Benn is quoted as saying:

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.”

To which you might add politicians then go around telling you that they fixed the problem only to come back next election cycle and tell you the problem they fixed with the last fix needs to be fixed again with a new fix. Sounds like someone is in need of a fix alright. Politics is opium to those who seek power over a people. And just like opium politicians are always in search of their next fix.

It is time for an intervention. Government needs to be cured of it’s addiction. By instituting voter enforced term limits upon each and every politician the damage they can ultimately cause will be limited by the length of time they get to remain in office. Although there seems to be no end to government meddling and tomfoolery at least if ‘we the people’ continue to vote out incumbents each election they may soon learn who is actually supposed to be running this country. My motto is simple: “One Term Until They Learn: it is government of, for, and by the people.” There should be no such thing as a career politician.

Gerald Warner said:

“We should be long past applauding politicians of any hue: they got us into this mess. The best deserve a probationary opportunity to prove themselves, the worst should be in jail.”

Two weeks from today the polls open for the mid-term elections. And hopefully the polling places will be overrun by fed up American’s pulling the lever to oust incumbent congressmen and women and replace them with solid constitutional conservative candidates. We need to send a clear message to the remainder of the incumbents that they are next on the chopping block unless they get back to representing the people and not ruling by fiat.

What’s our hope then? Not in government of that we can be certain. The only thing that government has accomplished is to increasingly make matters worse. Therefore we should go into this election cycle knowing full well that politicians are not the answer. They are the cause of most of our problems. The best we can hope for is to place these rascals on very short leashes and make sure that we monitor their every activity and hold their feet to the fire when they deviate from the Constitution of the United States, that is our responsibility as good citizens.

If there is any hope then it is this:

Again in the words of Ronald Reagan:

Within the covers of the Bible are the answers for all the problems men face.

Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure.

And from the holy scriptures we read: “I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

Like Rome of old and Israel before that the people chose to be ruled by a king and not by God and reaped the rewards of their folly. The only hope for America, or any nation for that matter, can only be found in the King of all kings, and the Lord of all lords, Jesus Christ.

Come November 2 as a good citizen of the United States I will cast my vote to remove from office anyone who has been there for more than one term. But as a Christian I shall continue to lead my life by the precepts found within the covers of the bible. I will reject any policy or regulation enacted by any government that does not uphold the precepts outlined in the bible. In addition I will call upon the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to have mercy on us and to continue to bless America. Will you join me in this prayer for America?
