The evil intentions of Satan was to dominate the world and make all men subject to his demonic rule. The ever growing animosity toward anything Christian in today&#8217;s America is an real sign of the spiritual war being waged against our nation&#8217;s soul. Antisemitism is another sign of the spirit of anti-Christ in the world.</p>
<p>Be careful and be fully aware of the powers at work in our society. The efforts of fallen man to remove any mention of Christ from our society is a sure sign of Satan&#8217;s evil intentions on world domination.</div>

<div><span style="color: #000000;">In July 2010, the results of a Pew Survey of over 1,000 Christian households found an interesting result. The survey found that for those who consistently read their Bible every day, they have less <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/mortgage_loan" title="Mortgage loan" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortgage_loan">mortgage</a> payments, car payments, or unpaid <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/credit_card" title="Credit card" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card">credit cards</a>. The less people read their Bible the more likely they were to have more debts among survey participants. There are two potential reasons for this clear difference.</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;">The first reason is the discipline in one&#8217;s spiritual life often leads to greater disciplines in other areas of one&#8217;s life, including how someone manages their finances.</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;">The second reason is those who consistently spend time in the scriptures are tapping into God&#8217;s wisdom and guidance for their daily <a class="zem_slink freebase/guid/9202a8c04000641f8000000000017cf9" title="Finance" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance">financial</a> decisions.</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;">The survey found that daily Bible readers are more than twice as likely to give 10% or more of their income to God&#8217;s work at their church and other ministries. Daily Bible reading leads people to a conviction that God is their true Provider, and they are to be generous with whatever resources God entrusts to them during their lifetime.</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;">Perhaps if the bible was not a forbidden book in our classrooms and public squares, more people would grow up fiscally responsible. Maybe if more people were exposed to the wisdom found in the pages of the bible, society as a whole would fair far better. If &#8216;we the people&#8217; held our <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/official" title="Official" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official">elected officials</a> to a higher standard and required of them to demonstrate biblical values, perhaps our country would not find itself overdrawn, and overtaxed. Having more of our society engaged in bible study would possibly lead to an increase in charitable giving and therefore more resources would be available for the poor and sick among us. </span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;">No wonder the <a class="zem_slink freebase/guid/9202a8c04000641f8000000000019a9e" title="Government" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government">government</a> wants to ban bible reading from as many places as possible because if more people tapped into the power of God available to them through the study of sacred scriptures there would be less need for <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/public_sector" title="Public sector" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_sector">government intervention</a> in our daily lives.</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/tj201009292332-2.jpg" alt="" hspace="1" vspace="1" width="33" height="33" /><span style="color: #000000;">And that is this week&#8217;s tail feather. Think about it. </span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="color: #000000; font-size: x-small;">But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. </span><span style="color: #000000; font-size: x-small;"><strong><em><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Isaiah+40%3A31" class="bibleref" title="ESV Isaiah 40:31">Isaiah 40:31</a><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Isaiah+40%3A31" class="scripturizer_newwindow" title="Open this passage in a new browser window" target="_new"><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/plugins/the-holy-scripturizer/new-window.gif" alt="Open Link in New Window" /></a> (BBE)</em></strong></span><span style="color: #000000; font-size: x-small;"><strong><em> </em></strong></span></div>

<p>Knowing that the Lord will one day return and set aright all that is amiss makes all creation groan with anticipation of that great day. Righteous judgments seems lost in America but there is hope that one day all the crocked will be made straight and those who practice deception will be dealt with, until then we pray for the Lord&#8217;s guidance and protection as we life our lives each day. No matter what Lord come quickly!</p></div>

<p>In the world today, it is very easy to get so incredibly caught up in all the demands that culture places on us that we don&#8217;t have any time to spend with God. More and more is demanded of us that often times we forget what is really important. I doubt anyone who finds themselves diagnosed with a fatal disease will say I wish I had spent more time working. It is usually at the end of our lives that we take the time to reflect.</p>
<p>Why wait until your life is over to pause long enough to consider what is really important.Society will eat up every waking moment of your life if you allow it. Non-essentials will soon crowd out what is important if they are not filtered through the lens of eternity. We accumulate so much junk in our lives as we live in this fast-paced world that many become consumed by the junk and miss out on the joys of life.</p>
<p>The Lord commanded us to take one day and keep it set apart for the worship of God. Six days were enough for any man to work according to God&#8217;s blueprint. One day was to be set aside as a day to pause and meditate on the blessings God has bestowed upon us. How many today actually pause long enough to consider that everything we have is a gift from God? God has even given us the very breath we breathe.</p>
<p>Seven days without God makes one weak, but fill each day with the presence of God and you can do even greater things than you can even think or imagine. And making sure that you devote one 24 hour period to the Lord to honor and worship Him makes for a fulfilled life. Try it, it will change your whole outlook on life.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 0.7em; vertical-align: super; font-family: 'Times New Roman','Times',serif;"> </span><em>“Don&#8217;t ever worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?&#8217; or ‘What are we going to drink?&#8217; or ‘What are we going to wear?&#8217; <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 0.7em; vertical-align: super; font-family: 'Times New Roman','Times',serif;"> </span>Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 0.7em; vertical-align: super; font-family: 'Times New Roman','Times',serif;"> </span>But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you.</em></span><em> </em><small><strong><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Matt+6%3A31-33" class="bibleref" title="ESV Matt 6:31-33">Matt 6:31-33</a><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Matt+6%3A31-33" class="scripturizer_newwindow" title="Open this passage in a new browser window" target="_new"><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/plugins/the-holy-scripturizer/new-window.gif" alt="Open Link in New Window" /></a> (GW)</strong></small></p></blockquote>
</div>
<blockquote><p><em><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">But as Scripture says: </span><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">“No eye has seen,</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">no ear has heard,</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">and no mind has imagined</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">the things that God has prepared</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">for those who love him.”</span> </em><small><strong><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=1+Cor+2%3A9" class="bibleref" title="ESV 1Cor 2:9">1 Cor 2:9</a><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=1+Cor+2%3A9" class="scripturizer_newwindow" title="Open this passage in a new browser window" target="_new"><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/plugins/the-holy-scripturizer/new-window.gif" alt="Open Link in New Window" /></a> (GW)</strong></small></p></blockquote>
<p>We may think we know what is best for us but I have learned to trust in the word of God as the guide-book to my life and it has proven to be the best guide-book of all. If you feel that you can not afford to take one day off to spend with the Lord then you can not afford not to.</p>
<p>And that is this weeks &#8220;word to the wise&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p><em><strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The wise of heart will heed commandments,</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">but a prating fool will come to ruin.</span> <a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Prov+10%3A8" class="bibleref" title="ESV Prov 10:8">Prov 10:8</a><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Prov+10%3A8" class="scripturizer_newwindow" title="Open this passage in a new browser window" target="_new"><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/plugins/the-holy-scripturizer/new-window.gif" alt="Open Link in New Window" /></a> (RSV)</strong></em></p></blockquote>
<blockquote><p><em><strong><span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The law of the <span style="font-variant: small-caps;">Lord</span> <em>is</em> perfect, converting the soul;</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The testimony of the <span style="font-variant: small-caps;">Lord</span> <em>is</em> sure, making wise the simple;</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The statutes of the <span style="font-variant: small-caps;">Lord</span> <em>are</em> right, rejoicing the heart;</span> <span style="line-height: 1.5em;">The commandment of the <span style="font-variant: small-caps;">Lord</span> <em>is</em> pure, enlightening the eyes;</span> <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/psalms" title="Psalms" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psalms">Psalms</a> 19:7-8 (NKJV)</strong></em></p></blockquote>

</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">11. You tried to blame it on someone or something else.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">12. It will take years to fix things.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">13. Boy, do you wish you could do it over.</span></div>
</blockquote>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">For a believer God does offer do overs&#8217; if we confess our sin. No matter how serious the sin, God is always seeking us out and is willing to forgive our sins and give us a fresh start. He offers to clean up our messes.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<blockquote>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><em>our</em></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"> sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/first_epistle_of_john" title="First Epistle of John" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Epistle_of_John">1 John</a> 1:9 (NKJV)</span></div>
</blockquote>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">But before we we can be offered a do over we must first admit our wrongdoing. The cleansing starts by taking responsibility for the mess in our life and not making excuses for it. By taking responsibility for the mess we acknowledge the need for someone other than ourselves to fix the mess we are in. As long as we point fingers at someone else and blame others for our mess we will never get to the bottom of the problem and find the cure.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">Thankfully, God is a forgiving God and by God&#8217;s grace, our personal mess can be cleaned up. He is quick to offer <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/forgiveness" title="Forgiveness" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgiveness">forgiveness</a> to those willing to confess their need for His cleansing power.</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;">So next time you find yourself in a mess, cry out to God and He will hear you and clean up the mess you are in. </span></div>
<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; color: #000000; font-size: small;"><br />

<p>We take far too much for granted and fail to offer the praise that is due His name. We oft times whine and moan about supposed injustices that befall us as if the whole world revolved around us. The last time I looked up into the sky the earth revolved around the sun and the morning and evening did not answer to my command. Our lives too are ordered of the Lord we can either pause and give thanks or murmur and complain. The choice is ours, the option is left up to us. We are given the freedom to acknowledge the blessings of God or to ignore them. Each day as we awaken, we have the choice to either walk in thankfulness toward God or seek our own will and way.</p>
<p>There is much to be sorrowful for but there is far more to be thankful for. Each new day, each new sunrise brings with it the opportunity for new blessings. From the rising of the sun to the going down thereof the Lord&#8217;s name should be praised. If we spent as much time praising the Lord as we do complaining about life&#8217;s ills I think we would find far more sunny days then cloudy ones.</p>
<p>So in light of the suffering of those who endured the <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/earthquake" title="Earthquake" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthquake">earthquake</a> in <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/haiti" title="Haiti" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=18.5333333333,-72.3333333333&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=18.5333333333,-72.3333333333%20%28Haiti%29&amp;t=h">Haiti</a> I leave you with these words from <a class="zem_slink freebase/en/red_foley" title="Red Foley" rel="homepage" href="http://www.clydefoleycummins.com/RedFoley.php">Red Foley</a>. Lord forgive me when I whine I surely am blessed and the world is mine. My prayers go out to all those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. I pray for the Lord&#8217;s blessings to arise out of the ashes of despair and destruction. May the Lord&#8217;s healing flow throughout the land, and may His name be praised in the midst of the storm.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Today upon a bus, I saw<br />
A lovely maid with golden hair;<br />
I envied her &#8211; she seemed so gay -<br />
And oh, I wished I were so fair.<br />
When suddenly she rose to leave,<br />
I saw her hobble down the aisle,<br />
She had one foot and wore a crutch,<br />
But as she passed, a smile.<br />
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine;<br />
I have two feet &#8211; the world is mine.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">And when I stopped to buy some sweets,<br />
The lad who served me had such charm;<br />
He seemed to radiate good cheer,<br />
His manner was so kind and warm.<br />
I said, &#8220;It&#8217;s nice to deal with you,<br />
Such courtesy I seldom find.&#8221;<br />
He turned and said, &#8220;Oh, thank you, sir!&#8221;<br />
And I saw that he was blind.<br />
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine;<br />
I have two eyes &#8211; the world is mine.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Then, when walking down the street,<br />
I saw a child with eyes of blue.<br />
He stood and watched the others play;<br />
It seemed he knew not what to do,<br />
I stopped a moment, then I said:<br />
&#8220;Why don&#8217;t you join the others, dear?&#8221;<br />
He looked ahead without a word,<br />
And then I knew; He could not hear.<br />
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine;<br />
I have two ears &#8211; the world is mine.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">With feet to take me where I&#8217;d go,<br />
With eyes to see the sunset&#8217;s glow,<br />
With ears to hear what I should know:<br />
I&#8217;m blessed indeed, The world is mine;<br />
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.<br />

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. <a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Isaiah+40%3A31" class="bibleref" title="ESV Isaiah 40:31">Isaiah 40:31</a><a href="http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?go=Go&amp;q=Isaiah+40%3A31" class="scripturizer_newwindow" title="Open this passage in a new browser window" target="_new"><img src="http://journeyacrossthesky.com/wp-content/plugins/the-holy-scripturizer/new-window.gif" alt="Open Link in New Window" /></a> (BBE)</p>

I, like Paul, can state most assuredly that I have yet to apprehend, but I shall forget the past with it&#8217;s successes and loses, and strive toward even greater goals, aim even higher, and soar to even greater heights than thusly achieved. As we set our sights on things above rather than on things of this earth, then surely we can hope for the best that God has to offer all those who put Him first.
