  • Jars of Clay Frontman Comes Out in Support of Homosexual ‘Marriage’

    See on Scoop.itEagle Views

    Dan Haseltine

In a series of assertive Tweets, Dan Haseltine of the popular band Jars of Clay took to his Twitter account and came out in support of homosexual ‘marriage,’ …

I succeed that Dan Haseltine has the right, in this country, to free speech. He also has the right to tweet his views and opinions on any topic he desires. Knowing that same-sex marriage is a ‘hot topic’ issue and one that is bound to spark deep emotional response both for and against, one has to wonder why Dan decided to open this can of worms in the first place. Was he trying to garner some publicity for his band, knowing that any press is good press, or was he seriously seeking to understand the whole issue?

From his own tweets it would seem Dan has made up his mind on the issue and is not really seeking to garner understanding from those who are opposed to same-sex marriage. He even tweets that he really does not care what the bible says about it.

    I quote:

“I don’t particularly care about Scriptures stance on what is ‘wrong,’” he stated. “I care more about how it says we should treat people.”

Perhaps this is where we all run into trouble when dealing with scripture. Instead of looking at scripture from God’s viewpoint and how He feels about an issue and why, we look at it purely from a personal viewpoint and how it makes us feel and how we wish to be treated by others, whether it is right or wrong is not up for discussion. We feel that what we want and how we feel about any given issue should be respected and honored by others and they have no right to tell us how we ought to live.

Okay if that is your position, then please do not quote the bible or even reference the sacred text, since you really do not care what it has to say anyway. Scripture is not open for private interpretation, it is a spiritual guide-book, and as such requires spiritual insight into its meaning  and application. This is why so many have misapplied scripture and have misrepresented Christ in the process, because they have wanted to use the scripture to support their viewpoint and not adjusting their viewpoints to reflect scripture.

For example let us take just one commandment:

Thou shall not commit adultery. And yet many Christians do just that. They do not see anything wrong with their behavior and do not wish for anyone to tell them that what they are doing is wrong, and yet the bible is unambiguous about the issue.

And on the issue of marriage that is pretty clear as well, a man shall leave his father and mother (note it does not say father and father or mother and mother) and cling to his wife, the two shall become one flesh. Okay now we could argue what is meant by the word WIFE but it is clear what MAN is, unless of course you are confused about your gender.

Jesus addressed this issue as well and I cite the verse in context:

    Matthew 19:4-9 (GW)
4  Jesus answered, “Haven’t you read that the Creator made them male and female in the beginning
5  and that he said, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and will remain united with his wife, and the two will be one’?
6  So they are no longer two but one. Therefore, don’t let anyone separate what God has joined together.”
7  The Pharisees asked him, “Why, then, did Moses order a man to give his wife a written notice to divorce her?”
8  Jesus answered them, “Moses allowed you to divorce your wives because you’re heartless. It was never this way in the beginning.
9  I can guarantee that whoever divorces his wife for any reason other than her unfaithfulness is committing adultery if he marries another woman.”

Jesus was being asked about divorce by the Pharisees, who were the religious leaders of the day. These men were supposed to be teachers of the law and they needed to be taught themselves.

You see folks the Christian community has a great deal of problems in regards to marriage, and same-sex marriage is just one of the many symptoms of a godless societal trajectory. There is a great deal of divorce and remarrying going on within the Christian community which Jesus said was committing adultery, and yet strangely nary a peep can be heard from Christian leaders on this issue of marriage.

So then if we are going to ignore adultery then we might as well ignore all other sexual sins as well and let everyone do as they please when it comes to sexual matters. After all what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own homes is none of our business right?  Oh wait you are making it our business by bringing your bedrooms out into the street where everyone must witness your conduct. If you do not wish to be judged by your conduct then I suggest you do not display your conduct before the entire population, but if you choose to make a public display of your conduct then you should expect a public outcry concerning that conduct, do not be surprised then if not everyone finds your conduct acceptable. Some may, some may not, but regardless of whether you have majority support if your conduct does not meet with God’s approval then in the end it will be a worthless pursuit, ending in unspeakable torment and misery.

So to Dan and others who wish to pursue this topic be assured that not everyone is going to agree with any position you take on the matter, and you should not be offended when someone takes issue with your position. Be ready to suffer the consequences, but I will ask you this one question:

    Mark 8:36 (GW)
36  What good does it do for people to win the whole world (gain popular opinions, gain world renown) yet lose their lives?

Jesus concludes by saying, hey if you are ashamed of what my word says and teaches in this wicked world then he will have no problem being ashamed of you when it comes time to choose whom he will spend eternity with.

In other words it is okay if you do not want to follow Jesus and his teachings, and since you do not want anything to do with Jesus here and now, you will not be upset when he wants nothing to do with you in the here after right?

    Mark 8:38 (GW)
38  If people are ashamed of me and what I say in this unfaithful and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of those people when he comes with the holy angels in his Father’s glory.”

So whether the entire world approves of your conduct does not really matter in the end. The one who gets the last word is Jesus and since you really do not care what he has to say, then I guess go ahead and do what you want because in the end you will have an entire life to live without Jesus. Isn’t that really what you want anyway?

Go ahead and do it your way but be aware that your way does have consequences both here and hereafter.

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

  • Christianity, the World’s Most Falsifiable Religion

    See on Scoop.itEagle Views

The central claims of the Bible demand historic inquiry, as they are based on public events that can be historically verified. In contrast, the central claims of all other religions cannot be historically tested and, therefore, are beyond falsifiability or inquiry. They just have to be believed with blind faith.

    1 Corinthians 15:14-17 (AMP)
14  And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain [it amounts to nothing] and your faith is devoid of truth and is fruitless (without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded).
15  We are even discovered to be misrepresenting God, for we testified of Him that He raised Christ, Whom He did not raise in case it is true that the dead are not raised.
    16  For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised;
    17  And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is mere delusion [futile, fruitless], and you are still in your sins [under the control and penalty of sin];

The central tenet of Christianity is that there was a Jesus Christ who was born, suffered, died, was buried, and rose again, to later ascend into heaven. He was seen by many witnesses after he rose from the dead. These were eyewitness accounts of his resurrection who later went about telling others what they saw for themselves.

After Jesus was crucified we must note that the disciples were discouraged and afraid because they hid themselves in fear that they too would be next to be crucified by the Romans. When the women went to the tomb to anoint the dead body of Jesus they found the tomb to be empty. There they were met by angels who asked them why they where looking for the living among the dead.

They did not believe that Jesus would actually come back to life even though he told them he would. They were expecting to find a dead body not an empty tomb.

When the women went back to the disciples to tell them that Jesus was indeed risen, they too did not believe. Peter took it upon himself to run to the tomb to see for himself. He found the tomb empty and the grave-clothes folded neatly, but was unable to grasp what it all meant.

    Luke 24:1-12 (KJV)
1  Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2  And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3  And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4  And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
5  And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6  He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7  Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8  And they remembered his words,
9  And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.
10   It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
11  And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.
12  Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

Had the story stopped there than anyone could hypothesis a scenario about what actually happened at that empty tomb, but the story does not end there because Jesus made it a point to show himself alive to his disciples and many others. These first-hand witnesses then went about telling others of this miracle.

There are still many today who do not believe that Jesus was and that he actually loved them enough to be willing to die for them. But to us who have had an encounter with the living Christ know for a certainty that Jesus is alive and well and His spirit lives within all of those who believe and receive his gift of salvation through faith.

Have you heard? Do you believe? Why doubt? Why not ask Jesus to show himself alive to you as well. He is always willing to make himself known to those who are looking for him. I challenge you to seek him with your whole heart. Go looking for him like Peter did, but do not go looking for him among the dead, look for him among the living for that is where he can be found.

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

  • The 16th Amendment as originally proposed did not tax earned income.

    See on Scoop.itEagle Views

The 16th Amendment was sold to the American public as a way to make the rich pay their “fair share.” That law, which was billed as a “soak the rich” scheme, instead now threatens to drown us.

Well today is the last day to fulfill our obligations to the government under the 16th amendment to the Constitution. Every year the taxman comes around to collect their share of our labor to indulge in the reckless pursuits. It wasn’t always like this in America. In fact up until 1913 there was no income tax.

The current tax code is four million words long, and more than four times longer than the collected works of Shakespeare. It requires 25 volumes to contain it and takes up 9 feet of shelf space.

And it was sold to the American people as a way to “make the rich pay their fair share.” Sound familiar?

The current tax code is now four million words long, more than four times longer than the collected works of Shakespeare, and six to seven times longer than the Bible. It requires 25 volumes to contain it, and takes up nine feet of shelf space.

According to Forbes, it takes Americans over six billion hours to comply with its filing requirements. That’s the equivalent of 8,758 lifetimes – in people years, not dog years.

Making the rich pay their fair share has been the governments unending song from the beginning of taxation. They never have enough and the rich they think always has too much, the problem is they lied then and they are lying now. Let’s face it folks the government wants all your money, and they will never stop trying to figure out ways to get it, and hopefully they will even convince you to turn it over voluntarily.

Obamacare is one BIG TAX. The intent of the entire law was never about providing meaningful health care reform but to snowball you into agreeing to give them more of your hard-earned income in hopes of receiving some promised benefit. There is only one problem with this, the government lies all the time when it comes to separating you from your money. They sell you on the idea that the program they are proposing is FOR YOUR GOOD when they have designs on confiscating more of your personal belongings through taxation.

Prior to the passage of the 16th Amendment, almost the sole source of income to the federal government came from tariffs collected on imported goods. That itself was a profound limitation on the size and reach of the federal government. In 1910 the budget for the entire federal government was $1.042 billion.

Then just like today ordinary citizens figured out that the increased cost of goods fell upon the consumer while the corporations would pad their profit margins by raising domestic prices to just slightly less than the foreign imports prices, thus remaining competitive but at the same time generating a higher profit margin.

So the proposed cure is now worse than the original disease if in fact there ever really was a problem to begin with. Being competitive in a world market has always been sound business practices, and no amount of government intervention is ever going to change that dynamic. Businesses will sell their product to the highest paying consumer base or work in the most cost effect market possible to stay in business.

We have been sold a bill of goods and the average American citizen has swallowed this poison pill of covetousness to her own destruction. Politicians will continue to pit the rich against the poor and continue to cry injustice and how they are the ones to see to it that the rich pays their fair share all the while you and I are footing the bill as the fat cats continue to get fatter.

The marketplace is a wonderful thing if left alone to contend with competition. But once competition is eliminated or the federal government comes along picking winners and losers, it is you the American citizen who always comes up with the short straw.

    Proverbs 6:6-8 (BBE)
6  Go to the ant, you hater of work; give thought to her ways and be wise: 7  Having no chief, overseer, or ruler, 8  She gets her meat in the summer, storing up food at the time of the grain-cutting.

Even nature teaches us that natural laws are at work in the universe and those who try to manipulate, or violate these natural laws do so at great personal cost. It would seem that ants are far wiser than the American culture because even the ant knows that there is a time of plenty and a time of want and during the time of plenty one must lay aside a part for the lean times that are sure to come.

    Cover of "A Bug's Life [Blu-ray]"
    Cover of A Bug’s Life [Blu-ray]
In 1998 Pixar produced the animated movie “A Bug’s Life” and the protagonists where grasshoppers who’d show up once a year at the ant colony to get their annual food offering so they would not have to work to produce their own food. One year they  arrived and the offering was accidentally spilled into the water and ruined. The grasshoppers did not forgive the ants required offering but instead gave them until the fall harvest to produce twice as much.

The colony is now in trouble, as there isn’t enough food to fulfill the grasshopper’s request and give sustenance for the colony. When the grasshoppers return to discover a meager offering, they take control of the entire colony and begin eating the ants’ winter store of food, and plot to kill the queen.

Their plot is foiled when the ants fight back.

When they all stood together and worked together they were able to overcome the oppressor and turn back the tide of tyranny.

You see the ruling class understands the power of the citizenry and fears it and it is for that reason the ruling powers continue to put wedges between groups to get them fighting with each other and not standing together uniformly to fight the real enemy.

The ant colony knew that by all of them working together the entire colony would thrive, but once dissension was sown into the fabric of their colony, destruction would follow soon after.

The grasshoppers would never stop coming to collect their tax, and each year the burden would get larger and would never end unless resisted in solidarity.

Personally I would like to see the 16th amendment nullified and the IRS eliminated. Is anyone willing to stand with me?

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

  • Sexual Atheism: Christian Dating Data Reveals a Deeper Spiritual Malaise

    See on Scoop.itEagle Views

In a recent study conducted by ChristianMingle.com, Christian singles between the ages of 18 to 59 were asked, “Would you have sex before marriage?” The response …

    EagleWings‘s insight:

Jesus Himself said it would trend this way. The apostle Paul forewarned the very single, very godly Timothy that there would be times in his ministry when clear and sound doctrine in Scripture would be defeated by broken culture teaming up with the ever-present and self-serving nature within every Christian. He accurately forecasted a self-styled Christianity that reflected culture over the character of Christ in personal moral spaces and practice.

This in part explains the whole “gaying” of our culture. For many personal preferences take precedents over God’s perspective. In essence we feel we know better than God does on sexual matters.

So then I will ask the question no one wants to ask. Is all this sexual liberation leading us toward a more Godly society? Are our attitudes toward sexual intimacy strengthening the fabric of society or loosing the moorings of cultural morality? Perhaps our way is not the best way? Maybe Father knows best is the right path to choose.

  • Blood Moons: Could they be signs of “the End of Days?”

    See on Scoop.itEagle Views

IF YOU’RE feeling out of sorts today don’t worry, it isn’t just you.

    Frederick Allen‘s insight:

The King James Bible predicts: “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD comes,” [Joel 2:31].

And, according to NASA, a highly unusual ‘Tetrad’ – four successive total ‘blood-red’ lunar eclipses each followed by six full moons – will, indeed, start next Tuesday and finish on September 28 2015.

The incredible alignment has only happened a handful of times in the last two thousand years but, remarkably, on each of the last three occasions it has coincided with a globally significant religious event.

The first Tetrad since the Middle Ages, in 1493, saw the expulsion of Jews by the Catholic Spanish Inquisition, which rocked western Europe.

The second coincided with the establishment of the State of Israel – after thousands of years of struggle – in 1949.

Strangely, the last one occurred in 1967 – far earlier than expected – precisely at the time of the Six-Day Arab–Israeli War.

While NASA has confirmed the astrological validity behind some of the claims, not everyone is convinced the Tetrad means anything at all, let alone the End of Days.

Professor Gary Shogren, a former pastor who studied the New Testament at Aberdeen University, said: “You’ll never go broke predicting the apocalypse.

“An eclipse on Passover night seems wildly improbable, but we should remember that lunar eclipses only happen on full moons and that Passover by definition always takes place on a full moon. Sukkoth (The Feast of Tabernacles) also by definition coincides with a full moon.

“I thought in 2011 we all said we weren’t going to fall for this again, when Harold Camping twice missed the date of the Second Coming?

Try as we might scripture is clear on this:

“No one knows when that day or hour will come. Even the angels in heaven and the Son don’t know. Only the Father knows. Matthew 24:36 (GW)

Whether the blood moons are signs of the coming “End of Days” or not, no one knows how many days each has on this earth so let’s make each day count for the Lord shall we?

  • when a “good girl” meets the gospel.

Those who are forgiven much love much. But what about those who think that there is nothing that they need to be forgiven of?

Jesus says that he has come to seek the sick not those who are well. So if someone does not think they are sick do they know the depth of God’s love?

When a “good girl” meets the gospel addresses this issue. It isn’t until we see our own wickedness that we are then able to see the greatest of God’s love.

  • Sacrificing the Children

    Leviticus 20:4-5 (AMP)
4 And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from the man when he gives one of his children [as a burnt offering] to Molech [the fire god] and they overlook it or neglect to take legal action to punish him, winking at his sin, and do not kill him [as My law requires],
5 Then I will set My face against that man and against his family and will cut him off from among their people, him and all who follow him to [unfaithfulness to Me, and thus] play the harlot after Molech.

A shocking report from England today is provoking alarm and outrage worldwide. The report indicates the remains of as many as 15,000 aborted babies were incinerated by British hospital as a heating source.

burningwasteWhile the pro-abortion movement frequently condemns pro-life advocates who draw comparisons between abortion and the Holocaust, the report of babies burned to heat UK hospitals is a shocking reminder of the callous way human life was treated by the Nazi regime. According to the report in the London Telegraph newspaper, the aborted babies were incinerated as “clinical waste” in “waste to energy” plans at British hospitals.

The hospitals, funded by the British government’s NHs health care program, admitting burning the babies’ bodies along with legitimate medical waste and trash. The Department of Health has reportedly issued a ban on the practice, prohibiting the hospitals from exploiting the bodies of babies victimized by abortion any further.

The 15,000 babies whose bodies became fuel for heating hospitals were incinerated at 27 various hospitals and clinics across the U.K. and the parents were not consulted about burning the babies.

Of course I have to pause for just a second and ask myself if the parents actually cared what happened to the baby? I mean many of them were at the hospital to kill the child in the first place, and I guess no one ever stopped to think about what would actually happen to that dead child. I wonder if they actually thought it though that far or if they were more concerned with ending the life of the child because he/she was inconvenient?

There is simply no justification for the horrors of the abortion industry. Thousands of unborn children are eliminated daily, and the majority are offered up as a result of the selfishness and immorality of their parents. After all abortion is being sold as birth control. Yep a good way to control a birth is to kill the baby. Of course the biblical way to avoid giving birth is to not have sex but that is way too much to ask in our selfish, over-sexed society isn’t it?

No abortion is justifiable, but late-term abortions are especially abhorrent–in which a child who could survive, and who feels pain is dismembered, his skull crushed and is scraped from the womb–and we are not ashamed. We calmly abort children simply because they are the “wrong gender.” Indeed, we celebrate abortion. Our “Christian” leaders call it a “blessing.”

Of course we do not offer them to Molech literally, but we should stop and ask ourselves what Molech represents. The ancient gods were offered human sacrifice as an act of appeasement. It was a deal. We give you our children and you give us the “P” words: Protection, Prosperity and Power.

Isn’t it interesting that all religious cult worship involves the sacrifice of something to appease the gods and yet the only religion that does not require this is Christianity and it is the Christians who are called barbaric and evil.

The reason the God of Christianity does not require a sacrifice is because he became the sacrifice for us. God himself passed through the fire so that no other sacrifice is required.

Give careful thought to your ways because one day you will have to give an account of everything you have done.

Now that is how I see it! What say you?

  • Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

It maybe better stated that to whomever you are beholden shall be seen as beautiful.

“Never in my lifetime have I seen a law that is helping so many people be so vilified,” complained Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA). “This is a huge success, this law.”

How successful? Well, a report released in time for ObamaCare‘s four-year anniversary Sunday indicates just the opposite.

The American Action Forum sums it up:

“After four years of implementation, countless delays, a website disaster, and constant litigation, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) celebrates its inauspicious birthday this week,” the report said. “From a regulatory perspective, the law has imposed more than $27.2 billion in total private sector costs, $8 billion in unfunded state burdens, and more than 159 million paperwork hours on local governments and affected entities.”

“What’s more troubling, the law has generated just $2.6 billion in annualized benefits, compared to $6.8 billion in annualized costs,” it said. “In other words, the ACA has imposed 2.5 times more costs than it has produced in benefits.”

As is typical when liberals speak you have to listen with liberal ears and look with liberal eyes. Remember these folks do not think like normal, main-stream, American citizens do. You have to take into account from what perspective they are speaking and then what they say will make perfect sense.

In the liberal mind what is good for them and their ideology is considered good for all. And if it happens to harm conservatives in the process it is even better. So then using the liberal template and looking through the liberal tinted eyeglasses we can understand Ms Boxer’s statement this way:

The Affordable Care Act was never intended to save the average person money, it was designed to TAX the rich and give even more benefits to the poor. And by poor we mean those who support the liberal agenda. The fact that it is costing businesses money is a good thing to a liberal, since they think PROFITS are evil and corporations are pawns of Satan, therefore taking more money from them is a good thing.

The fact that the law only delivers a tiny benefit is also good because a good liberal knows that with any policy it is important that you never really SOLVE a problem because if you actually solved a problem there would be no more need for liberal policies, as such these programs are designed to dangle a carrot and keep the people chasing after a fix and demanding the government do more. This is DEFINITELY good news to a liberal. They want to control more and more of our lives and the bigger the government gets the more  control they have which also is a good thing to a liberal.

What liberals consider bad is liberty and freedom. They do not want you prospering as an individual, you must be rounded up into groups and then vilified and indoctrinated into the liberal way of doing things. This is what liberals call good.

So you see Barbara Boxer was actually telling the truth when she said the law is a HUGE SUCCESS! To a liberal it is. To real folks living in Realville, this law is a disaster, which again is good for a liberal because anything that is BAD FOR AMERICA is good for them.

Now you understand that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder, and to the liberal the more who are beholden to them the better.

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

  • A True Story of Man-Made Climate Change

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” – 1Kings 17:1

Elijah was a Tishbite. Most Jews and Christians are familiar with Elijah. When Elijah confronted wicked rulers he was a “nobody” from an obscure tribe. But that did not stop him from taking a stand for God. Elijah didn’t have a prophetic blog. He did not hold a degree in theological studies from a major Jewish school of the prophets. He did not boast a large resume nor have thousands of Facebook likes and Twitter followers. For the most part until he took a stand for the Lord he was a nobody. What gave him a place in the annals of biblical history is what he had to say, and for whom he was speaking.

Elijah was facing Ahab, who along with Jezebel was systematically attempting to remove all the spokesmen of God from the land. They were killing the prophets of God. They sought to SILENCE the voice of God from among the people. They wanted to be sure that there was no one to challenge their political position, or political decisions. They in effect wanted to be the final arbiter of all things.

God wasn’t having any of it and thus sent Elijah to confront Ahab about his wicked ways. Ahab had introduced Baal worship into the northern kingdom of Israel. Baal was considered the god of fertility and of rain, so the pronouncement of Elijah that it was not going to rain until Elijah said it would was a direct challenge to Ahab’s worship of the Baal god. Elijah was directly challenging Ahab’s reliance on idol worship. He was there to remind Ahab who really was in charge of the climate.

True to his word the heaven’s withheld rain and dew for three and a half years until God spoke to Elijah again to declare that it was going to rain. During that time a great famine hit the land.

Elijah’s confidence was in God’s character and faithfulness. He spoke with assurance because he knew the voice of the Lord and he knew that God could be counted on to do what He said He would do. Elijah even went as far as confronting all the prophets of Baal, those the government hired to stand before the people and instruct them on the ways of Baal worship. These were government employees whose job was to instruct the people on the religion of environmentalism, and they were given the authority to punish anyone who did not bow down to worship the god of the earth.

Elijah wasn’t having any of it.

    1 Kings 18:16-39 (GW)
16 So Obadiah went to tell Ahab. Ahab went to meet Elijah.
17 When he saw Elijah, Ahab said, “Is that you, you troublemaker of Israel?”
18 Elijah answered, “I haven’t troubled Israel. You and your father’s family have done it by disobeying the LORD’S commands and following the various Baal gods.
19 Order all Israel to gather around me on Mount Carmel. And bring the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20 Ahab sent word to all the Israelites and brought the prophets together on Mount Carmel.
21 Elijah stood up in front of all the people and asked them, “How long will you try to have it both ways? If the LORD is God, follow him; if Baal is God, follow him.” The people didn’t say a word.
22 So Elijah told the people, “I’m the only surviving prophet of the LORD, but there are 450 prophets of Baal.
23 Give us two bulls. Let the prophets of Baal choose one for themselves, cut it into pieces, lay it on the wood, but not set it on fire. I’ll do the same with the other bull.
24 “You call on the name of your gods, but I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire is the real God.” All the people answered, “That’s fine.”
25 Elijah told the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves. Prepare yours first, because there are more of you. Call on the name of your god, but don’t set the wood on fire.”
26 They took the bull he gave them, prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon. They said, “Baal, answer us!” But there wasn’t a sound or an answer. So they danced around the altar they had made.
27 At noon Elijah started to make fun of them. “Shout louder, since he is a god. Maybe he’s thinking, relieving himself, or traveling! Maybe he’s sleeping, and you have to wake him!”
28 So they shouted louder. They also cut themselves with swords and spears until their blood flowed. (This is what their ritual called for.)
29 In the afternoon they continued to rant and rave until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no sound, no answer, no attention given to them.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come over here.” So all the people came to him. He rebuilt the LORD’S altar that had been torn down.
31 Elijah took 12 stones, one for each of the tribes named after Jacob’s sons. (The LORD had spoken his word to Jacob: “Your name will be Israel.”)
32 Elijah built an altar in the LORD’S name with those stones. He also made a trench that could hold 12 quarts of grain around the altar.
33 He arranged the wood, cut up the bull, and put it on the wood.
34 He said, “Fill four jars with water. Pour the water on the offering and on the wood.” Then he said, “Do it again,” and they did it again. Then he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
35 The water flowed around the altar, and even the trench was filled with water.
36 When it was time to offer the sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward. He said, “LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make known today that you are God in Israel and that I’m your servant and have done all these things by your instructions.
37 Answer me, LORD! Answer me! Then these people will know that you, LORD, are God and that you are winning back their hearts.”
38 So a fire from the LORD fell down and consumed the burnt offering, wood, stones, and dirt. The fire even dried up the water that was in the trench.
39 All the people saw it and immediately bowed down to the ground. “The LORD is God!” they said. “The LORD is God!”

Oh happy day! Someone darned to challenge the prophets of environmentalism and prove once and for all who is actually in charge of the environment. Elijah forced the king and the prophets for hire to prove that the god they worshipped was in charge. This proved to be a fatal error.

Elijah went to the top of Carmel and bowed down on the ground to pray. …Gradually, the sky grew darker with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain.   I Kings 18:42 &45

Elijah was not ashamed of his God and was willing to stand against king Ahab to declare his faith. I am afraid there are too many prophets of God hiding in caves from fear than are willing to boldly go and tell the good news of Christ to a lost and dying world. I am afraid that the worship of Baal has crippled too many of God’s people into believing the lies the Baals are selling and not the truth of God’s word. We need a few good men willing to stand up and proclaim to all the prophets of Baal the truth of God’s word.

Or we can start with just one lone voice crying in the wilderness. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Choose today whom you will serve. If Baal is god then serve him but if God is God then serve Him you really can not have it both ways.

And that is the way I see it. What say you?

But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness. Isaiah 40:31 (BBE)

  • Tail Feathers: A quick look at the news

First the good news: According to Newsmax John McCain has said he will not seek the Republican nomination for president again. Did I miss something? Has anyone asked Johnny boy to run again? If I recall correctly there were not too many enamored with his first go around. So who is it exactly that wants John McCain to run for President again? ANYONE? Raise your hand if you want Ol’ Johnny to run for President….

McCain: I Won’t Run for President Again

Arizona Sen. John McCain says he will not seek the Republican nomination for president again. “Oh, I’m too . . . I’m afraid it’s not a viable option,” McCain, 77, said Monday on Fox Business Network‘s “Cavuto.” He is, however, “seriously considering” another run for his Senate seat, which he’s held since 1987.

     Newsmax

Now for the bad news John is thinking about running for the Senate again. How about we all throw you a nice retirement party instead? I’ll bring the cupcakes.

From the DO AS I SAY but not as I do department:

Senator: CIA Inappropriately Perused Documents on Secure Computer Network

In an effort to promote transparency and accountability, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) provided “secure” computers to congressional staffers on the Senate Intelligence Committee to investigate the agency’s detention and interrogation program established in the post-9/11 era.  Townhall

You see folks it is only okay for the government to spy on you, we are never allowed to take a peek to see what these folks are up to. So what is good for the goose is not good for the gander apparently.

Remember how Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was vilified from his budget proposals? Well guess what they actually worked.

Surplus: Wisconsin Legislature Passes Walker Tax Cuts Package

Why, it’s almost as if responsible, conservative governance works: Wisconsin will sell $294.8 million in general-obligation refunding bonds this week in a negotiated sale as the state projects a budget surplus of almost $1 billion. Surging tax revenue is driving improved fiscal performance in Wisconsin, with a population of 5.7 million.

The democrats where up in arms I believe not so much that they thought the plans would fail but that they knew they would actually work and this is what they were terrified of. Once the people realized that taxing and spending, and big labor union contracts was damaging to their economic futures Wisconsin’s would abandon the labor unions and the democrat party policies. And they were right about that.

From the “while you were sleeping department”

While most of us where sleeping or otherwise engaged in meaningful pursuits, a number of democrats took to the floor of the house to talk about ‘Climate Change”. They are so desperate to get the country to believe in this fallacy that they thought an all-night gabfest would bolster their position.

With real climate change legislation all but dead in Congress, the senators involved in Monday’s climate-fest just want to get to a point where lawmakers can agree that climate change is a scientific fact.

    Senate Dem’s stage climate all-nighter | TheHill

2 days ago … Senate Democrats want lawmakers to agree that climate change is a scientific fact. … will be among those participating in the talk-a-thon on the Senate … senators signed up for the all-night climate-fest, but Democrats hope to …

Well you have to admire their tenacity to insist that the globe is warming while most of the United States has been in the deep freeze since the start of the year. Not to be deterred however, these brave souls soldiered on to persuade America that the SCIENCE is settled, Climate Change is for real.
But when it comes to REAL SCIENCE, federal agencies are not above fudging the numbers a bit to [prove their points] even going so far as to making stuff up to further their agendas.
The last story for this week is federal bureaucrats could bring the U.S. Energy boom to a screeching halt by using 2 chickens the Sage Grouse and the Prairie Chicken.

Federal officials often use flawed or falsified results to support decisions to expand the endangered species list, according to a recently published congressional working group report.

“Many reports and studies used to justify ESA decisions have been found to have mathematical errors, missing data, errors of omission, biased sampling, undocumented methods, simulated data in place of more accurate empirical data, discrepancies between reported results and data, inaccurate mapping, selective use of data, subjective interpretation of results, fabricated data substituted for missing data, and even no data at all,” the Washington Examiner reported in a Feb. 3 news story.

How two chickens and federal bureaucrats could bring the U.S. energy boom to a screeching halt

Federal officials often use flawed or falsified data to support decisions to expand the endangered species list, according to a recently published congressional working group report.

    Mark on Google Plus

So how does two species of chickens halt the energy boom? Because inclusion of two of the species involved — the Sage Grouse and Prairie Chicken, both found predominantly in western states, including Texas and the Dakotas — could halt the U.S. energy boom in its tracks.

Why? Because putting the birds on the endangered species list empowers federal bureaucrats to limit use of millions of acres of privately owned lands, thus effectively taking them out of energy exploration and development. In other words the feds come and take control of private property.
Tell me again how BIG GOVERNMENT is for the “working man?”

There you have it folks this week’s edition of Tail Feathers, a quick take of news that caught the eagle eye. Until next time. Safe journeys.
